Navigating Difference: Diversity Speaks - A Reading & Discussion Group In-Person

This four-part series will explore short texts reflecting a range of cultural perspectives. All texts for each session will be provided by the library and will be read aloud, then discussed, by participants. Participants will read and respond to a variety of texts by such American writers as Langston Hughes, Ralph Ellison, Gary Soto, Gwendolyn Brooks and others, both classic and contemporary, famous and little known.

Facilitator, David Sanders, is Professor Emeritus of English at St. John Fisher College. He has taught British, American, and biblical literature in a career that spans more than forty years. Though widely published in professional journals and still active as a scholar, he has always enjoyed getting beyond the academic classroom to promote literary discussion with readers in the wider community. David facilitated an African American Literature discussion series at Central Library in 2017.

Hosted by the Arts & Literature Division. Free and open to the public.
