Rochester's Rich History: 100 Acre Tract Tours In-Person
Join local historian and tour guide Hal Schuler for a guided tour of the 100 Acre Tract. Located on the west bank of the Genesee between 490 and Main Street, the 100 Acre Tract today is the heart of downtown Rochester. In 1811, however, when Nathaniel Rochester and his partners purchased the land to build a frontier settlement, it was heavily forested frontier land. Hal will take participants on a journey through the development of the 100 Acre Tract, focusing on its continual development as the core of urban Rochester, and the many historic buildings still standing on the Tract.
Please note that tours are being offered at 10:00AM and 2:00PM. Registration is required, as each tour is limited to 20 participants. The Tour Groups will meet outside of the Rundel Building, on the front steps, starting 15 minutes before the tour.
Please note that in case of inclement weather or other extenuating circumstances, Mr. Schuler will host a "travelogue" style presentation using maps and images of historic Rochester inside the Rundel Building.
