Micro-Memoirs: A Two-Part Writing Workshop In-Person

In this two-part workshop, we will write micro-memoirs - picturing moments of your life as story or poetry. We will explore writing the essential image, event, and perceptions that color your life.  We will read examples, enjoy fun practice exercises, and write to prompts. Imbue your flash memoir with insight. Look into description, tone, dialogue, point of view, literary devices, and the twist! Open to writers of all levels.

Marna Rossi, PhD, is a workshop leader who helps students become more expressive through storytelling, poetry, and drama at W&B and in Monroe County community education programs. She has designed and taught programs for the University of Rochester’s Girls’ Science, Math, and Computer Camp; the Urban League Teen Program; the YMCA; and church youth programs. She has performed with the Storytelling Guild of Rochester. Rossi has also taught psychology and human development at Nazareth College, MCC, Oswego, and RIT. She is the recipient of the Writers & Books’ 2011 Big Pencil Award for inspiring the creation and appreciation of literature in young people.

Rochester Writes is hosted by the Arts & Literature Division. All programs are free and open to the public. Space is limited and registration is required.
