That's a Wrap! Holiday Bow Making Class In-Person

Learn the art of tying the perfect bow for all occasions! Polish your thoughtfully chosen holiday gifts with your own hand-tied bows. All supplies provided. Registration is required.

Presenter info: Sue Decker, an English teacher at Mercy High School was a designer at two local flower shops for 20 years. Her original degree was in Ornamental Horticulture before deciding to go back for degrees in English and literacy.

In this workshop, you will learn how to make 3 bows.

Bow 1. The poinsettia bow. This bow is made from red and green velvet ribbon and is simple to assemble. Use it on packages or as a decoration on its own.

Bow 2. Layered-loop bow. This bow, too, can be used on a present. It can also be used as a hair bow to add a nice festive touch for a young girl or an adult.

Bow 3. The traditional florists' bow. We will make this bow with wired ribbon, which makes fluffing the loops much easier. The wire is also more forgiving, allowing for a bit of wiggle room for first-time bow tying. This bow can be used on a gift, as a focal point on a wreath, or in a vase of greens or flowers. The wire allows us to store it away at the end of the season, pull it out again next year, and fluff it out again.
