Depression Glass: the World's First Mass Produced Glassware with Don Hall In-Person
What collectors now call "Depression glass" (named for the Great Depression era when it was first popular) is the world's first mass produced glassware. While glass has been produced in molds in the United States since 1825, it was not until a century later that the molding process was automated, no longer requiring many hand operations. As a result, glassware quickly became much cheaper, just at a time when the country had seemingly run out of money. Audience members are invited to bring in suspected pieces of Depression glass for inclusion in the talk.
