BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP
Leader: Kathleen Wakefield
Penfield Librarian Kim Catalanello, hosts the monthly Book Discussion Group meeting. This month’s selection is ALL WEATHER POEMS.
Think “all weather tires” for getting you around in any season. Weather, in all its variety – rain, snow, mist, wind, drought, heat or flood – is our constant, informing our days. We’ll read poems whose images of weather make us look at our outer and inner worlds in fresh, new ways, whether it’s snow that “sifts from leaden sieves” (Dickenson) or wind in Frost’s poem “Bereft” (“Where had I heard this wind before/change like this to a deeper roar?”). Weather poems can take us anywhere in the world, even serve as “Guide to Imaginary Places: Back of the North Wind” (Kasischke).
Copies of the poems will be available at the Circulation Desk beginning on Fri. March 16. No registration is required.
