POV Documentary Film & Cultural Presentation: "My Love, Don't Cross That River"

POV Documentary Film & Cultural Presentation: "My Love, Don't Cross That River" In-Person

In honor of Asian Pacific Heritage Month, Central Library, in conjunction with PBS, is proud to present a special cultural event.  In rural Korea, 89-year-old Kang Gye-Yeol and 98-year-old Jo Byeong-Man are married and have lived together for 76 years. While Kang and Jo spend every day like a newlywed couple, they now must face the reality of their aging romance. My Love, Don’t Cross That River captures the fleeting moments of their twilight days. After the screening, Dr. Hang Ryeol Na, a recipient of 2016 Public Diplomacy Award from Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs for sharing Korean art and literature with American people, will discuss ancient Korean literature related to the film’s title, traditional clothing (“Hanbok”), and changing family relations among other topics. He is adjunct professor of Environmental Studies at RIT
