Organic Composting as a Way to Sustainable Growing

A great garden starts with great soil!  One way to maintain a good health and high nutrient content of your production soil is through addition of garden compost to keep your garden performing well.  But composting is more than recycling garden waste or kitchen scraps – it’s a way of creating a healthy environment for all creatures living, including you!  Come and learn how to start your composting practices and convert your garden in to a sustainable heaven.
A part of the discussion will be area farming as source of local food.  A ‘Fresh Market Local Food’ guide, including Monroe County Farmers’ Market Guide 2017 will be provided.

Instructor Jarmila Haseler is currently employed by CCE of Monroe County as an Agricultural Educator. She taught college-level crop production in the Czech Republic before coming to the US. She own home-garden consultant-, design- and installation business “Gardening Roots”.
