Unfolding Pleasure: The Sentence Experience In-Person
"Why should a sequence of words be anything but a pleasure?" Gertrude Stein asks. Good grammar alone does not guarantee great sentences, but conscious choices in diction, syntax and structure do. A sentence is an unfolding experience for the reader, each word producing an effect. This class will teach you how to think about constructing sentences so that they have both an intellectural and emotional impact. Open to writers of all levels. Space is limited and registration is required.
Anais Salibian has a Master's degree in English literature and a Certification in Secondary Education, and has taught high school English and Drama for many years. Her published works are all creative non-fiction. She's currently teaching classes on writing to heal, memoir, essay, and crafting sentences.
