Growing Blueberries in the Home Garden

Growing Blueberries in the Home Garden Online

Gardening Basics: Growing Blueberries in the Home Garden

Blueberries are one of the few fruits that are native to North America. The interest of growing blueberries in home gardens began over a century ago and has increased rapidly ever since. Homegrown blueberries are far more flavorful and healthier than the store-bought kinds. Blueberries are packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants and can be consumed in many ways from eating them fresh to processed jellies, juices, or desert fillings for delicious home-baked products.

This class will cover the best growing techniques from planting to harvest and discuss the fruit’s nutritional value. Jarmila will share some fun recipes to take full advantage of the blueberry harvest!

This class will be presented by Jarmila Haseler, Agricultural Educator from the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County.
