Mourning in the Morning: History in Plain Sight: Architects, Architecture and Mount Hope Cemetery

Mourning in the Morning: History in Plain Sight: Architects, Architecture and Mount Hope Cemetery Online

REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED (see below). Registrants will receive the Zoom link in an email one hour before the talk begins.

There is no aspect of American history that can’t be interpreted through Mount Hope Cemetery, and that is especially so with the architects and architectural history of Rochester and the surrounding region. Architecture is the art we see every day, and Mount Hope is a veritable museum of architecture, with its own collection of significant buildings and monuments. It is also the final resting place of the architects, builders, and important clients who determined the built environment of our area.

Dennis Carr is a founding member, past president, and current Vice-President of the Friends of Mount Hope Cemetery. He is the Senior Tour Guide at Mount Hope, with 2022 marking his 44th year leading tours of Mount Hope Cemetery. Carr is also on staff at the Edward G. Miner Library at the University of Rochester Medical Center, assisting students, researchers, clinical staff, and faculty. He is a life-long scholar of the American cemetery.

Mourning in the Morning is presented in partnership with the Friends of Mount Hope Cemetery.
