Ida Tarbell In-Person
In the late 1800s & early 1900s McClure's was one of the most important magazines in the United States. Staffed by "Muckraking" journalists, the magazine pointed out the ills of society. Ida Tarbell was one of the most famous journalists for that magazine. During her time there she would write a history-making expose and book about the bad business practices of John Rockefeller's Standard Oil Company. At a time where women were supposed to "know their place", Ida Tarbell was one who walked her own path and changed history. Presented by Mark Sample, History Professor at MCC.
