Rochester’s Best-Kept Secret: The Mighty Wurlitzer In-Person
Prior to the demolition of Rochester’s RKO Palace Theatre in 1965, the Mighty Wurlitzer theatre organ—designed to accompany silent films with music and sound effects—was rescued and moved to what is now RBTL’s Auditorium Theatre. Volunteers chartered the Rochester Theater Organ Society and have maintained this magnificent instrument for decades.
