Eclipse 2024: James Webb Space Telescope

Eclipse 2024: James Webb Space Telescope In-Person

James Webb Space Telescope

Join us for third program in our Space Program Series: Eclipse 2024 with NASA Ambassador Jim Porter to discover what scientists are learning from the James Webb Space Telescope. This is the largest and most powerful space telescope that has ever deployed!

The James Webb Space Telescope is the latest NASA mission sent to discover the distant mysteries of the universe. For several months the optical system has been aligned and images are now coming back to us, showing some of the first stars and galaxies ever formed! The images also include objects from Mars outward to the Kuiper belt. The James Webb Space Telescope also shows how new stars, galaxies, and planets form.

Jim Porter worked for over two decades as an aerospace engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA and Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland. His presentations are popular, engaging, and easy to listen to for all levels.
