Learn How to Bind a Book Using the Coptic Method In-Person
Coptic-bound book:
Said to have originated in Ethiopia, this popular binding has a flexible spine, unsupported by paper or boards. This versatile, multi-signature book can be laid completely flat when opened. The method that I will teach for this class is sewn with a single, straight needle, (as opposed to multiple or curved needles). Students will learn how to use a “weaver’s knot” to add a new piece of thread to the existing one.
