Native American Heritage Month Ceremony

Native American Heritage Month Ceremony In-Person

Artist KatieJo Suddaby created a beautiful sand painting for Native American Heritage Month. It is on display here at the Central Library. The mandala will be on display for the month, then brushed away on November 29th. That's right- mandalas are impermanent works of art. Brushing them away reminds us that everything is always changing- like sands blown by the wind. The Dissolution Ceremony is open to the public and will take place Wednesday, November 29th, at 630pm. Please join us to celebrate and learn about the cultures and values of the Native peoples of this land. Native American storyteller and dancer Daystar, will be here as well for the dissolution ceremony. A few of her dancers are going to perform a hoop dance that correlates with the medicine wheel mandala.
