Opening reception for “Our Nature”

Opening reception for “Our Nature” In-Person

Join us for the opening reception for “Our Nature” on January 16, 2024. 4:00-5:30 pm Paul, and Alan, and Rick Beyer, will speak about their work and sign books starting at 4:30 pm.

“Our Nature” is a survey exhibition of fine and applied art created over many decades by the Singer family, Arthur, Judy and their sons, Paul and Alan. Each of the family members is given space for their creative paintings, their illustrations which grace the pages of numerous commissioned books, plus a sheet of best-selling American postage stamps.

“Our Nature” draws its title from the artists’ source of inspiration found in the birds, plants and animals in our natural environment. The Singers all are native New Yorkers who grew up in New York City and Long Island. They all enjoyed a thorough education in the arts, making their living from their creative skill sets.

“Paul and I share many of the same interests, and our parents, Arthur and Judy, always helped guide us along a path toward creative production, took us to art galleries and museums when we were still children, and helped us promote our illustration and design work after we graduated college”, said Alan Singer.

Featured Book Connection to the Exhibit

During WWll Arthur served in the Army in what is now known as “The Ghost Army,” a secret battalion dedicated to deception on the battlefield. Rick Beyer, https://rickbeyer.net, a New York Times best-selling author and award-winning documentary filmmaker, will speak at the opening about his books on the Ghost Army and about Arthur’s participation as a soldier and artist during those tumultuous years of the war. Thanks to Rick Beyer’s efforts, the members of the “Ghost Army” have recently been awarded a Congressional Medal of Honor, Announcement reguarding the presentation of the award is to be made at the reception.
