The Civil Rights Act of 1964: MLK Jr., Lyndon Johnson and the Fight for Justice In-Person
President Kennedy was assassinated leaving behind a civil rights bill in Congress that did not look like it would be passed. His successor, Lyndon Johnson had been the Senate Majority Leader in the 1950s and knew how the system worked to get things done. This would lead eventually to the passing of one of the most important pieces of legislation in American history. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Parma Public Library.
Presented by Mark Sample, history professor at MCC. Registration optional.
