Boxmaking Workshop for Youth with Laura Jackett

Boxmaking Workshop for Youth with Laura Jackett In-Person

Do you like boxes? Students will produce one finished box during the class. The skills students need to be able to construct a box are folding, gluing and patience. Glue the precut bookboard pieces together to form a tray; choose beautiful Japanese paper to cover your box, and choose a contrasting paper for the lid. Once you know the basics of making a box, you can modify it to any size to hold a book, collectibles or allow it to stand alone as it’s own piece of art. Bring your own exacto knife and self-healing mat if you have them.

This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of The Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Genesee Vally Council of the Arts.
