Genealogy Club: Newspapers In-Person

Newspapers are a great source for illuminating the daily lives of our ancestors. There is much information to be found and many more papers and locations are being brought online for use in genealogical research. This talk will give some examples and advice on how to find them and how to use them.

Presented by Larry Naukam, a longtime member of the Rochester NY Genealogical Society. He has served on the national award-winning Church Records Preservation Committee of the RGS, and was its President 2017-2023. He was head of the Local History, Genealogy and Digitizing Division when he worked at the Central Library of Rochester 1978-2011. He also worked for a property abstracting company and was a geography major in college. He has written for numerous print and online publications, and wrote the In Brief Guide to New York Genealogy, published by the In-Depth Genealogist.
