Think About It: A Dialogue on Rochester's Housing Crisis

Think About It: A Dialogue on Rochester's Housing Crisis In-Person

Join us as we delve into Rochester’s housing challenges, both past and present. The program will begin with a screening of the 1968 documentary Think About It, which vividly portrays the housing crisis that gripped the city during a pivotal era of social change. Following the screening, a distinguished panel will engage in a dialogue exploring the persistent struggles that continue to shape Rochester’s housing landscape.

Facilitated by Shane Wiegand, co-Director of Our Local History at Coordinated Care Services, Inc., the discussion will feature insights from Kim Smith (At-Large Member of Rochester City Council), Dana Miller (Commissioner, Neighborhood and Business Development, City of Rochester), Ronald Washington (Housing Director/Manager Home Store, Urban League of Rochester, NY, Inc.), Erik Frisch (Deputy Commissioner, Neighborhood & Business Development, City of Rochester), and Gene DePrez ( Co-Producer/Director of Think About It and former President and Chief Executive of the Urbanarium.).

This event invites the community to reflect on the deep-rooted issues of housing inequity and to participate in a conversation about the steps needed to address these ongoing challenges.
