Wool, Water, and Wellbeing: Stitching the Story of Water with Fiber Art

Wool, Water, and Wellbeing: Stitching the Story of Water with Fiber Art In-Person

Wool, Water, and Wellbeing: Stitching the Story of Water with Fiber Art

Join us for a conversation with Michale Glennon, creator of Wool and Water, a unique project that blends fiber art with scientific data to tell the story of waterways in the Adirondacks and beyond. Launched in 2022 in association with the 50th anniversary of the Clean Water Act, this innovative and collaborative approach to environmental education invites participants to be a part of the effort and to use knitting, crochet, weaving and other fiber arts to learn about the health of waterways, the challenges that face them, and how best to care for them. Here as a visiting artist with support from the Institute for Human Health and the Environment at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Michale will discuss the Wool and Water project through the lens of human health. We’ll explore some of the important issues facing our water resources and the implications for public health. Join us for an overview presentation, followed by a chance to look at some of the pieces that have been created, talk about what they mean, and how to get involved.
