Jeanette Rankin: Political Trailblazer

Jeanette Rankin: Political Trailblazer In-Person

Join us to celebrate Women's History Month as we learn all about the trailblazing life and work of Jeannette Rankin!

In 1916, Jeanette Rankin became the first woman in U.S. history to be elected to the House of Representatives. A suffragette and pacifist, she carried her personal values into her political career, fighting for the passage of the 19th amendment and being the only person to vote in opposition of both World Wars. After retiring and in her late eighties, Jeannette even protested against the Vietnam conflict. Our favrotie professor of history, Mark Sample, will tell us this fascinating story of one of America's most famous female leaders!
