All About Horses: EquiCenter Experience Especially for Kids In-Person
Have you always wanted to know more about EquiCenter and what happens at 3247 Rush Mendon Rd? If so, you won't want to miss this opportunity to visit the farm and rotate through special activities designed especially for preschool and elementary school-age kids.
Color Our World Activities at Equicenter to Include:
Horse Colors and Markings Craft: Learn about the different colors and markings that distinguish different horses and breeds at this horse-themed coloring station. Consider doing this activity before going on a tour so you can try to find a horse in the EquiCenter herd that matches the one you've drawn!
Meet the Minis: Meet, take photos with, and even learn to groom some of the miniature horses that call EquiCenter home.
Color Our World Story Time: Take a break from the heat and get off your feet by relaxing at the story time station. Picture books focused on colors and nature will be read by a Mendon Public Library librarian.
Tasting a Rainbow of Farm Fresh Produce: Discover the colors (and smells and tastes!) that the EquiCenter farm has to offer. This sensory tour of the farm will highlight many of the seasonal produce grown onsite and will include samples of fresh-picked vegetables, herbs, and fruits.
PLEASE NOTE: Guardians will be asked to accompany youth participants at this activity station to ensure safety. Please notify staff of any dietary restrictions or allergies that we should be mindful of when you arrive at this station.
Colors of Nature Scavenger Hunt: Explore the many hues and shades that are found in our natural surroundings through this color matching challenge.
Tours of EquiCenter: Tours guided by EquiCenter staff and volunteers will highlight the many programs offered at this 200 acre outdoor education and therapeutic facility. See some of the 30+ horses in their pastures and what a day is like at the farm and riding center. Tours will be conducted at regular intervals throughout the event, so be sure to check in at the Welcome Table to see when the next tour will be starting.
PLEASE NOTE: Walking tours will follow designated paved, gravel, dirt, and grass trails. We ask that you stay with your tour guide at all times.
Raindate July 28.
Kindly register each child to save your spot in the tour. Adults will stay with children, but do not need to register.
Our thanks to Equicenter for making this program possible.
