American Red Cross:Then and Now In-Person
House and apartment fires here in Rochester. Forest fires in Northern California. Hurricane relief on the Gulf Coast. US Military service member receives notification of birth, death, or serious illness back home. Lifeguard saves a life. Newborn baby needs 'gold' blood transfusion to survive.
The common thread--the American Red Cross! How'd we get here?
Follow Jerry Bennett, Red Cross volunteer and former staff member, as he weaves a web of introductions to Clara Barton, President Lincoln, Bordentown New Jersey, Senator Charles Sumner, Henri Dunant, Charles Drew, the Geneva conventions, Susan B. Anthony, and Frederick Douglass. Bennett will draw upon his 50+ years of Red Cross service as he shares stories, maps, books and letters, and his personal experiences.
