Unbought and Unbossed: The Life and Legacy of Shirley Chisholm

Unbought and Unbossed: The Life and Legacy of Shirley Chisholm In-Person

"If they don't give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair," said Shirley Chisholm, and she did just that.

Carving out space for herself, women and Black Americans to come, Chisholm became the first black woman elected to the US Congress and the first black major-party candidate to run for president. A vocal opponent of economic, social, and political injustice, Chisholm's support of black civil rights and women's rights throughout her career forever changed the nation's perception of justice and equality. Join MCC history professor Mark Sample as he walks us through a deep dive on this trailblazing American hero - this is one you don't want to miss!
