The Tuskegee Airmen: A Rochester Connection In-Person
The fourth Thursday of every March is the celebration of Tuskegee Airmen Commemoration Day.
On April 21st, 1945, Tuskegee Airman Leland "Sticky" Pennington took off on a flight in his P-51 Mustang 'Lucy Gal.' World War II was drawing near a close, but his services as a bomber escort pilot were still sorely needed. En route to the mission, the Rochester, NY pilot went missing in action, and he has never been found. His story, however, is still flying. Join Austin Hancock, Commercial Pilot, CFI, and Museum Entrepreneur, with a subject focus on WWII Aviation, for this presentation. Mr. Hancock also runs the Pennington Flight Memorial, to honor local MIA Tuskegee Airman F/O Leland “Sticky” Pennington. Registration is requested.
