Travelogue: Life in the Past Lane: History Along the Highways of NYS In-Person
When you’re on a road trip, history is always around the bend. Be open to learning about the Empire State with a spin on a carousel or two. Step into the 1800s to explore the history of the Erie Canal’s development and its engineering marvels. Lisa Wemett and Terry Mulee are your tour guides, highlighting the sites that tell the story of this national historic landmark, its influence on the development of cities and the women’s rights movement, and the 20th century luminaries who followed the suffragettes.
Travel Guides: Lisa Wemett and Terry Mulee.
Lisa Wemett and Terry Mulee travel together in NYS and across the USA, documenting their journeys with their cameras. They enjoy day trips throughout the Finger Lakes region and the Adirondacks. Out-of-state journeys have taken them to Alaska, Washington State, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Maine. Lisa and Terry have presented travelogue programs at libraries and for other audiences since 2012.
Lisa C. Wemett retired in 2009 from the Webster Public Library, where she was the assistant director for thirteen years. Lisa continues to be involved in the library community statewide, currently volunteering for the Friends of Libraries Section of the New York Library Association. Lisa is a resident of Macedon.
Terry Mulee, a life-long resident of Rochester, has enjoyed photography since her youth, starting with a Kodak 104 Instamatic camera. She has embraced the technology of zoom lenses and digital photography in her recent work. For several years, Terry displayed her photography at local arts councils’ galleries, juried art shows, and had solo exhibitions at two nursing homes. Terry volunteers as the Treasurer of the Friends of Libraries Section of the New York Library Association.
