Neighboring Technological Civilizations In-Person

Where is the nearest extraterrestrial civilization? Dr. Dan Watson, professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Rochester and a senior scientist at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, explains where the nearest neighboring civilization capable of communication with Earth exists. We know the precise location of all the stars within thousands of light years of the Solar system. We also know that all the stars have planets, and what fraction of them have planets which can support life as we know it. So how far away is our nearest neighbor civilization? What is the best way to reach its inhabitants? Is it a good idea to try and reach them? We have good answers to all these questions now, and the results may surprise you. Registration recommended.
