Sweet Bites Poetry Discussion In-Person
Poet Kathleen Wakefield has found that experiencing the reading of poetry in community opens it up in new ways for everyone, whether you've always loved poetry or had less than positive experiences with it! She brings a diverse mini-anthology to each meeting and helps participants discover poems that deeply connect them to their own experiences and to the world. No prior experience with poetry is necessary. Sweet Bites will be held at MPL monthly this fall and participants are welcome to come to any or all of the sessions!
Kathleen Wakefield is the recipient of grants from the New York Foundation for the Arts and the Constance Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts. She has been a contributor to The Georgia Review, Kenyon Review, The Journal, and Poetry. She has taught poetry in the schools in the Rochester area and at the Eastman School of Music. She lives in Penfield, New York. Her book, Notations on the Visible World, received the 1999 Anhinga Prize for Poetry. Kathleen's second book is titled Grip, Give, and Sway: Poems, and you can read more about it here.
