 elected to the House of Representatives. Representing a district in 
 Brooklyn\, NY\, Chilsom fought for women's issues. She also was a founding 
 member of the Congressional Black Caucus. In 1972\, she became the first 
 woman of color to run in the primaries for President on the Democratic
