RMSC Presents Polymers!

RMSC Presents Polymers! In-Person

Grades 3-8 | Explore the amazing world of polymer chemistry. How does chemical makeup impact the form and structure of a material? Molecule chains link up to show us!

Explore the amazing world of Polymer Chemistry in this hands-on program. You will perform experiments to make different kinds of polymers like slime, Styrofoam, and extract DNA from a banana.

What do starch, latex, and fleece all have in common? They’re all polymers: long molecule chains that do a lot of heavy lifting in our day-to-day life! How do we get such different materials out of the same type of chemical make up? It’s all about how they link up. Experiment with super-absorbent sodium polyacrylate, pierce a balloon without popping it, mix up a batch of slime, and more.
