Leo Lyons, the Rochester Jeffersons, and the Birth of the NFL

Leo Lyons, the Rochester Jeffersons, and the Birth of the NFL In-Person

Leo Lyons is recognized as one of the founding fathers of the NFL. He was also a starting player on Rochester's professional football team back in the early 1900s - the Rochester Jeffersons. Lyons was a pioneer of integration in professional football, created the logo for the Jeffersons (the first logo used by a professional football team), and conceptualized using football trading cards as a promotional tool for the league. Join author Jeffrey J. Miller and Leo Lyons' great-grandson John D. Steffenhagen to discuss their book about Leo Lyons' role in helping create the NFL and his work with the Rochester Jeffersons.

The authors will also have copies of their book "Leo Lyons, the Rochester Jeffersons, and the Birth of the NFL" for sale at the program.
