1776: History Talk with MCC Professor Mark Sample In-Person

1776 is one of the most important years in American History. From the beginning until the end of that year, some of the most important events of the American Revolution occurred. Thomas Paine published his essay Common Sense at the beginning of the year. That essay helped to drive Americans towards declaring independence from Britain. That late Spring, Thomas Jefferson wrote The Declaration of Independence, which would inspire nations around the world to seek their own freedom up until our own time. Summer brought the Battle of Long Island, the largest battle of the entire Revolution and the biggest military loss for General Washington. The year ends with Washington crossing the Delaware and the Battle of Trenton. Please join MCC professor of History, Mark Sample, as he tells stories from this important year.
