Author Talk: "The American Creed" by Bill Wynne

Author Talk: "The American Creed" by Bill Wynne In-Person

Bill Wynne's essay "The American Creed: Promise and Paradox" is premised on the key principles of the Declaration of Independence and portrayed through the collective lenses of three famous black icons: orator Frederick Douglass, activist Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., and poet Langston Hughes.

The Declaration of Independence will celebrate its 250th anniversary on July 4th, 2026. Please come and hear local author and essayist, Bill Wynne from Fairport, discuss how the Declaration's powerful words still resonate today as well as how these three historical icons might envision the Declaration navigating through the next 250 years.
