Irondequoit Historical Society - Historian's Choice In-Person
Join the Irondequoit Historical Society and the Irondequoit Public Library on Thursday. March 5th, as we welcome our Town Historian, Tim Judd. Tim grew up in Hilton and graduated from Hilton High School. He has worked in construction, had his own company, and went to college at age 36 to become a teacher of American History and Economics. He was also actively involved with research and preservation of community-based documents in collaboration with the Genealogy Division of the Rochester Public Library.
On March 5th Tim will be sharing a brief history of School District #3. (Did you know that there were other school districts in our town?) The earliest schoolhouse built in District Number 3 was built in 1840 and was built of logs. It stood on the southeast corner of Titus Avenue and Lower Hudson (now Cooper Road), on land donated by Stephen Titus. This log school was used until 1861, when it was replaced by a one-room brick school built on the opposite corner of Titus and Lower Hudson Avenues.
The Irondequoit Public Library is committed to creating inclusive and accessible events. To request a reasonable accommodation or discuss your needs, please contact one of our Inclusion Coordinators or call the library at 585-336-6060.
