Local History Walking Tour: Felons, Flowers, Recreation, & Repurposing: A Stroll Down South Avenue *offsite In-Person
South Avenue is one of the most iconic streets in Rochester. Following the path of a former Native American trail, the street once held ties to punitive and public health institutions, the nursery industry, and the abolitionist movement before developing into the mixed-use mainstay we know today. Meet at the southeast corner of South Ave and Highland Ave for this 1-mile linear tour. (Tour ends at the corner of South & Gregory).
*In case of inclement weather, tour may be canceled
Registration is strongly recommended but not required.
Presented by the Local History & Genealogy Division of the Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County and sponsored by Fleet Feet.
