Eleanor Roosevelt: The Early Years 1884 - 1933 In-Person

Join MCC history professor Mark Sample as we journey through the early life of Eleanor Roosevelt. We will learn about her birth and the loss of both parents at a young age, her education in London, and her return to America where she meets a young Franklin Roosevelt. We will also learn about their marriage, his betrayal, and how polio affected their lives. During the 1920s, Eleanor will become the eyes & ears of her husband as he struggles with his health and a return to politics. It is during this time that she will become the woman she is in history, finding her strength and purpose in society. The talk ends with FDR's election to the Presidency in 1932.
