250 Years of Women Marching Toward Equality In-Person

*registration is open*

Monday, June 29, 2:00-3:30 PM

For Adults

This presentation provides an overview of women's struggle for equality in the United States. It invites you to go back in time when women were legally classified as "property," and explores their pain, passion, degradation, and determination -- simply because they wanted the right to vote. Catch the spirit of our hometown hero Susan B. Anthony as we explore why and how women began to rise up against the social mores that kept them down for centuries. We’ll review the driving forces behind the various movements for women’s rights and the legal status of women in our nation today.

A retired school administrator and adjunct communication professor, Patricia Nugent has been a student of the women’s suffrage movement for many decades. She's the author of the play “The Stone that Started the Ripple” about a modern-day reunion of the founding suffragists and editor of the book Before They Were Our Mothers: Voices of Women Born Before Rosie Started Riveting.
