Underground Railroad Tracks presented by the Friends of Mt. Hope Cemetery In-Person
The Underground Railroad was a network of people who opened their homes and hearts to enslaved people as they moved northward to freedom. Frederick Douglass and many other Rochester citizens kept the secrets of the identities, whereabouts, and transportation of hundreds of freedom seekers who successfully made this journey. Hear the stories of these "railroad conductors" and how they used their resources to keep this movement going, and ultimately aided in the nationwide abolition of slavery.
