DESCRIPTION:Midge Thomas was a visionary community leader whose legacy 
 continues to shape Rochester. She founded the Triangle Community Center\, 
 established the Freddie Thomas Foundation\, Inc.\, and was instrumental in 
 the installation of the Jane Pitman Drinking Fountain.\n\nMidge Thomas 
 passed away on January 8\, 2026\, at the age of 99. As the wife of Dr. 
 Freddie Thomas\, she devoted herself not only to preserving and advancing 
 her husband's legacy but also to creating a remarkable legacy of her own. 
 Through decades of unwavering advocacy\, community engagement\, and public 
 service\, she became a beloved and respected figure whose impact touched 
 generations of Rochesterians.\n\nIn honor of her enduring contributions\, 
 the Archive of Black History and Culture invite you to celebrate the life 
 and legacy of Midge Thomas during a special 100th Birthday Celebration. 
 Join us as we journey through her remarkable life\, exploring her many 
 achievements through photographs\, artifacts\, and stories that commemorate 
 a century of service\, leadership\, and inspiration.\n\nThe Archive of 
 Black History and Culture is an innovative community-curated archive within 
 the Rochester Public Library on a mission to work collaboratively with 
 community stakeholders to identify\, collect\, preserve\, and disseminate 
 resources that document the past\, present\, and future experiences of 
 Black people in the Greater Rochester region.
