"Camps of Crisis: The Intertwined History and Enduring Legacy of the CCC and POW Camps"
Long before the postwar suburban boom transformed our modern town, the sprawling fruit orchards and family farms of Greece were directly swept up in the global currents of the mid-20th century. Join local resident and Hamlin Beach State Park volunteer/researcher Roger Clark for a visually rich presentation exploring how the Great Depression and World War II affected life right here at home. Learn about FDR’s New Deal, the Civilian Conservation Corps, wartime labor shortages, and the remarkable people who kept local farms and food processing plants running—including women, Bahamian laborers, and Italian and German prisoners of war.
