Colorado's hiking trails are diverse. A hike near the Alpine Visitors Center in Rocky Mountain National Park, your breath will be taken away, not only by the view but at an altitude of 12,000 feet. A hiker will be gasping for a breath of air. At this altitude it could snow any day of the year. In contrast, trails at lower altitudes around Bear Lake are easy, and temperatures could top 80 degrees. The spectacular views of Longs Peak reflected in the lake are stunning. Every twist and turn of any trail affords hikers photo ops like no other place in America.
