Freddy Comes to Rochester

FREDDY COMES TO ROCHESTER, presented by award-winning scholar Michael Cart, is the story of the life and work of the late Walter R. Brooks, creator of both the famous Freddy the Pig books for children and the character of Ed, the talking horse, the inspiration for the kitschy ‘60s television show “Mister Ed.” His talk will feature Brooks’ lifelong connections with Rochester.

Michael Cart, a longtime columnist and reviewer for Booklist magazine, is the author or editor of 23 books, including his biography of Walter R. Brooks, Talking Animals and Others. The Life and Work of Walter R. Brooks, Creator of Freddy the Pig. He is the recipient of the Grolier Foundation Award for his service to children and literature.
