Researching & Writing About Rochester: A Four-Part Series In-Person

Are you writing about people who once lived in the City of Rochester, in times past, and in neighborhoods nostalgically remembered through photos and oft-told stories? This course will combine research tips and sources, with writing techniques and in-class exercises to help you create stories with vivid scenes, using concrete imagery with historically-accurate details. It's fun to recreate times and places long gone - let's do it together! This is a four-part series meeting on Wednesdays, June 5, 12, 19 & 26.

Instructor, Lisa Kleman, has been teaching writing courses for more than two decades, both at the college level and for community workshops. Currently, Lisa is researching and writing a book and articles about her own Rochester relatives (the Dossenbachs), as well as giving local talks (at the George Easman Museum, the Century Club, Historic Brighton, Greece Historical Society, and for Central Library's Rochester's Rich History).

This class is open to writers of all levels. Space is limited and registration is required.

Rochester Writes is hosted by the Arts & Literature Division. All programs are free and open to the public. Please call 428-8380 for more information.
