Tim Burkett: Author Reading, Book Signing & Conversation In-Person

Please join us for a very special reading, book signing and conversation with Tim Burkett, author of Zen in the Age of Anxiety: Wisdom for Navigating our Modern Lives (Shambhala Publications).

Wrestling with fear doesn’t have to be a negative experience. Tim Burkett’s book offers an approach to life that unlocks a new way of thinking and being in the world, one that leads directly through the center of the anxieties we seek to avoid.

Written in the style of an owner's manual, a guide to being human, Burkett focuses on areas of pain and anxiety as they tend to manifest for modern people: feelings of unworthiness and issues surrounding sex, money, failure, and even death. Using language and metaphors from popular culture, he takes anxiety and teaches us to turn those fears into the building blocks of a fulfilling life.

Tim Burkett, a lifelong Zen practitioner and the Guiding Teacher at Minnesota Zen Meditation Center since 2002, studied with Shunryu Suzuki-roshi and Dainin Katagiri-roshi, and was CEO of People Incorporated, a nonprofit working on the leading edge of serving those with diverse mental health issues. Tim is a licensed Ph.D. psychologist and his book includes his perspectives and experiences as a psychologist.

Copies of Zen in the Age of Anxiety will be available for purchase at the event.
