Mourning in the Morning: African Americans in Mount Hope Cemetery In-Person
This presentation is based on a walking tour in the southeast quadrant of the cemetery that highlights the African Americans in that section. Attendees will learn about the 19th-century notables that include the Rev. Thomas James, Dr. Charles Lunsford, Willie Lightfoot, Rosetta Sprague Douglass and family, James McCuller, the Douglass Family and the Dinkle and Bunton families.
Rose O'Keefe is the author of five history books on Rochester and WNY and has been a fan of Mount Hope Cemetery for decades.
