African American Art Lecture: Charlotte “Lottie” Wilson: Artist, Activist, and the National Association of Colored Women” Online
Cynthia Hawkins is the director of Brodie Hall's Lederer and Bridge Galleries at SUNY Geneseo. She will discuss the work of “Charlotte “Lottie” Wilson: Artist, Activist, and the National Association of Colored Women”
Wilson was active in the late 19th century and attended the first meeting of the NACW. She was an independent ambitious woman who lived in several different parts of the country to further her art career. She was first art superintendent organizing and curating exhibits for the NACW’s bi-annual national conferences. This presentation will discuss her life and activism.
