Words In Progress: A Monthly Online Writing Group In-Person

In this monthly Zoom workshop you’ll work within a supportive and creative writing community to hone your craft and tell your story. Expect a variety of activities that will help you generate new ideas, revise existing projects, and establish effective writing practices for yourself. All levels of experience are welcome. This group will run from September through May on the first Saturday of the month (with the exception of September) and by registering you are making a commitment to attend on a regular basis.

This monthly writing group is a renamed continuation (with a new facilitator) of the monthly writing group that has been meeting for a couple of years at Central Library. We have a few spots available to some new participants. This group will fill up quickly so do not hesitate to register if you're interested.

All library programs are free and open to the public. Space is limited and registration is required. You must have a computer or device with Internet access in order to participate in this class. Zoom meeting details that will enable you to join the class will be sent out to you before the first group. You only need to register for the first session as this will register you for the whole series.

Facilitator, Jen Case teaches writing workshops and leads literary discussions at libraries and senior living communities around Monroe County. She also presents with the group Women of the Well as a storyteller, dancer, and singer. Her passion is creating unique programs that help people find their voices and share their stories in a welcoming environment. Having received a B.A. in English from Alfred University and a M.S. in Education from SUNY College at Brockport, Jen has spent most of her adult life teaching in one capacity or another. She worked as Director of Programming at Writers & Books for a time and taught creative writing workshops at Borders Books. She also taught English at East High School, her alma mater, until the birth of her oldest child in 2005. She lives in Rochester with her husband and four school-age children, all of whom attend RCSD schools.

Rochester Writes is hosted by the Arts & Literature Division and supported by the Suressa Forbes Fund for Local Writers and the Friends & Foundation of the Rochester Public Library. Please contact Carol.Moldt@libraryweb.org for additional information.
