The Launch of "Baby Birds" & "1000 Books before Kindergarten" with Topher Holt -

Saturday, September 26 from 11:00-11:45 AM (no rain date)

For Families & Geared for Ages 0-6

Join us in the outdoor courtyard behind the recreation center for a morning of songs, dancing, and great fun. PPL is delighted to host Topher Holt as we launch our new literacy programs, "Baby Birds" and "1000 Books Before Kindergarten!" We will be strictly adhering to social distancing guidelines to ensure everyone's safety. Check-in will begin at 10:40 and families should bring chairs or a blanket that is large enough for all family members to sit on. Adults and children over the age of two are required to wear masks. Registration is required for this event. Register all children in your group separately with name of the attending adult. Geared for children ages 0-6.

 

Before you leave after the music concert, staff members will register your child outdoors for either program described below:

Baby BirdsBaby Birds

This program was created to encourage parents to read with their young children. For this program, you will commit to reading 100 books with your child before age 2, earning prizes along the way, including a new board book upon completion. Once registered, you will receive a folder with a welcome letter and a reading log to keep track of books read. After 25 books read, you come to the library to receive your next log.

 

1000 Books Before Kindergarten1000 Books Before Kindergarten

This national program was created to encourage parents to read 1,000 books with their child before they enter school. Reading together helps children build necessary pre-reading skills that create a foundation for success. The program is for children 2-5 years old. Children will earn rewards throughout, including a new paperback book upon completion. Once registered, you will receive a folder with a welcome letter and log to keep track of books read. After each 100 books, you come to the library to receive your next log.
